ARUGAM BAY, Sri lanka (Friday, June 25, 2010) – Hodei Collazo (Zarautz, EUK), 24, placed equal 5th in the inaugural ASP 6-Star Sri lankan Airlines Pro at Arugam Bay this week, the Basque native reaching the Quarterfinals to net the best result of a European over the week of competition.
Collazo, who has had a solid start in 2010 with an equal 5th place in the ASP Prime contest in Brazil last February, confirmed he was still on a good roll at the midyear-mark with his excellent run.
The Zarautz resident defeated ASP Elite member Daniel Ross (AUS) in Round 5, making his way easily from Round 1 through to the Quarterfinals where he lost to up-and-rising Californian star Nat Young (USA), 18, in well-fought heat.
A longtime European leader after successful years as an ASP European Junior member and already four years touring on the ASP Star and Prime Series, Collazo has been matching his peers’ expectations this year shining at several events.
His Quarterfinal finish at Arugam bay has once again proven his style and technical skills, a solid confidence boost before heading into a busy summer with Zarautz hosting an ASP 6-Star stop at the end of August.
