The old Moroccan fishing village of Taghazout is located around 20 kilometers north of Agadir and is one of the top addresses when it comes to surfing in Morocco. Three surf spots are located in the immediate vicinity and can be reached on foot in no time at all.
Whether at the world-class surf spot Anchor Point, at Hashpoint directly at the small fishing port in the center of Taghazout or Panomaras at the southern end of the village, everyone from beginners to pros will find their wave here. In addition to the first-class waves and excellent surfing infrastructure such as surf camps, surfboard hire and surf stores, Taghazout has retained its typical Moroccan flair to this day and is one of the top destinations for surfers from Europe when it comes to wave riding in Morocco.
The old town center with its numerous bars and restaurants offers the finest Moroccan and European cuisine at extremely reasonable prices. Of course, this also includes the typical tajine in all its variations, freshly caught fish dishes or the classic "Salade Marocaine". During surf breaks, you can watch the local fishermen go about their business, watch the youngsters playing football on the village square or simply relax on the roof terrace of your surf camp and watch the waves.
The three first-class surf spots Anchor Point, Hashpoint and Panoramas are just a few minutes' walk away. You can also reach many other first-class to world-class surf spots such as Devil's Rock (Tamrhakht/Aourir), Banana Beach (Tamraght/Aourir), KM11/12 (Tamraght/Aourir), Killer Point, La Source, Mysteries, Boilers, Dracula Tamri or Imsouane, 60 kilometers to the north, by bus, inexpensive cab, rental car or the surf camps' shuttle bus.
To get to know the country and its people, the nearby Paradise Valley, the old port city of Essaouira 150 km to the north, the souk of Agadir or the small town of Tafraoute in the hinterland on the Anti-Atlas are suitable excursion destinations. The best way to get to Taghazout from Europe is by plane to Agadir or Marrakech. From Marrakech, you can then travel on comfortably in one of the modern Moroccan coaches or by cab via the highway to Taghazout (approx. two hours).
